Fiona Gallery is a showcase to share and appreciate the knowledge and creativity of Okanogan Highland area residents. We feature an eclectic mix of items crafted by local artists, craftspeople, gardeners, teachers and guides. Our contributors are local artists whose work encompasses a wide variety of mediums from paintings to pottery, sculpture, metalwork, woodwork, books, fabrics and
much more. This area also abounds with small farmers and gardeners who grow and sell their produce locally, and our Farmers Market at Fiona is open every Sunday during the growing season.
Fiona is located in Chesaw, a small town on the Okanogan Highlands Loop, a tourist drive that includes Oroville, Chesaw, Curlew, and other scenic areas in the Okanogan Highlands. This is some of the most beautiful country in North Central Washington, where in late summer the hills are still green, the wildflowers are blooming colorfully, and wildlife abounds. Even with gas prices as they are, this area calls to those who love the natural world.
The town of Chesaw, situated in a lovely valley, has a country general store, a tavern, a barber shop, and now the Fiona at Chesaw Arts and Crafts Gallery. There are
many recreational opportunities in the area, including hiking, fishing, birding, and camping. The Chesaw Fourth of July Rodeo is a well-known annual event that draws thousands of people to our tiny town. There are many other local festivals, experiences, and events, truly something for everyone!
Fiona is an ongoing project, a gallery featuring locally made products, foods and garden plants, with a small gift shop including quality preowned items. We are working to build a demonstration garden of plants – native, xeriscape, acclimated vegetables, flowers and herbs. We want to see an area where children can play while their parents relax on the deck with a coffee or tea. In the future, we hope to offer classes in art, pottery, birding, gardening and other pastimes. We will have a contact list for those who want to hike or ride or bicycle, and, during the winter, cross-country ski, dog sled or snowshoe (the skiing is excellent here! — there is even
a ski hill with a chair lift not ten miles away).
Fiona sponsors musical nights including concerts, dances, music jams, and
spoken-word events, all featuring local (and sometimes not so local) talent. We
hope that Fiona can become a resource for Highland area residents and for those
who are visiting this beautiful valley. We offer organic coffee and teas, a
variety of cookies, and comfortable chairs to lounge in for a moment of
relaxation. We hope to see you as you journey through the hills and valleys of
the Okanogan Highlands!
